Wrestling season never really stops. Folkstyle association finals roll into freestyle and Greco state qualifiers, then summer duals, RMN nationals, and the road to Fargo. This page pulls the upcoming events families ask about most into one place: every tournament is sourced from the host association (CA-USAW, OCWA, IEWA, LAWA, TCWA), USA Wrestling Events, or the event organizer directly — never invented, always linked back to the source.

Explore wrestling events across Orange County and Southern California. Use the filters to narrow by date, organization, age, or style. Tap any card for the registration page or to add it straight to your calendar.

    Tournament FAQ for Wrestling Parents

How do I know which tournament is right for my wrestler?

Start local and start age-appropriate. New and younger wrestlers do well at OCWA, IEWA, and LAWA association tournaments — they’re nearby, they run on familiar formats, and the brackets are sized to the room. Once your wrestler is winning matches consistently, move up to RMN nationals and USA Wrestling regional/state events. Ask any Team Thunder coach before you sign up if you’re unsure — we’ll tell you straight.

Does my wrestler need a USA Wrestling card?

For almost every event on this page, yes. Most CA-USAW association tournaments (OCWA, IEWA, LAWA, TCWA), state qualifiers, and freestyle/Greco events require a current USA Wrestling membership. Get the kid’s card before you register — bring a printed or screenshot copy to check-in. RMN Events do not require a USA card.

What should we bring to a wrestling tournament?

Singlet, headgear, wrestling shoes, a warm-up, water, simple food (bagels, fruit, jerky, bars), a folding chair, USA card copy, and patience. Tournaments run long — eight hours is normal. Keep snacks light pre-match and refuel hard between matches.

    How early should we arrive?

Weigh-ins typically open 60–90 minutes before wrestling starts. Get to the venue at least 30 minutes before your weigh-in window so parking, check-in, and warm-ups aren’t rushed. For OCWA events, the schedule is usually: Kids/MS weigh-in 7–8am, JV 8–10am, Varsity 11–12:30pm.

Are there beginner or novice tournaments?

Yes. OCWA, IEWA, and LAWA association tournaments have novice brackets, and several summer events (like Outlaws of the Mat at Warren HS) run 8U–14U folkstyle that’s perfect for newer wrestlers. Use the “Beginner / novice only” filter above to see them quickly.

Can non-Team Thunder families use this tournament list?

Absolutely. This list is sourced from public CA-USAW, USA Wrestling, and event organizer pages — it’s accurate for any SoCal wrestling family. If you find a verified event we should add, email us and we’ll get it on the page.
